This is the link to my final project

Google Day 2

What are my university options in Europe, Asia..?

1: Learn how long is a musical career.
2:Does participating in musical activities help to get in a music university?
3: How many Music Universities are there and which ones are the best?

This is an overview of the music program in Julliard
And this is an overview of the music program in Julliard
This is Drama
And Finally this is dance

This Video shows how life on campus is:

Watching these videos I really don't know which major I would choose because I like all of them. But I still have three more years to decide which one I want and make my best effort to get in.
For now I am going to keep participating in them musicals and music shows in school and I will keep taking vocal and piano lessons outside of school.

Swiss School

  • While watching the video Sustainability management school I learned : The school is an innovative, unique experience and its the first of its kind in Europe. It is located in Switzerland in a town called Gland. Students can learn how to bring sustainability to life. After they can go into marketing, or finance, or other areas. It is the only business school in Europe that offers the bachelor and  the masters degree in business administration and sustainability. Students understand/ learn how to manage their products and how sustainability works in their life.
While watching the video Sustainable consumption & production: a greener world I learned:
  • the planet's condition is deteriorating
  • transportation, food and drinks are 80% of environmental impacts.
  • This can be measured my using the ecological foot print calculation.
  • If we keep the way we are by 2050 we will need we will need twice the things we produce
  • If industry allows the people to consume organically we shouldn't waste that opportunity.
An incontinent Truth:
  • If you look at the past hottest years they have all occurred in the last 14 years
  • The hottest of all was 2005
  • We are causing global warming
  • With in a decade there will be no snow left in Kilimanjaro.
  • It is not a political issue is more a moral issue.
  • Temperature increased can cause stronger storms
Arizona State University: Graduation Ceremony
  • one of them was the first one to go around the world in a balloon inflate
  • together they are hopping to inspire the new/ posterior generations.
  • they are going to travel around the world in an airplane powered only by solar energy
  • "Every difficulty is a potential opportunity"
  • "If you want to be useful to others you have to go beyond knowledge""
  • Exploration, and pioneer spirit ( when you act think and act out of the box)"

Dear Mrs. Alexandra Cadenas,

today I started to look at the history of Starbucks coffee. I learned that their first store was
opened in 1971 and since then they have opened 18,000 stores in more than 60 countries.
They also are trying to be innovators and  contribute to society and environment.

The company is always trying to make its community bigger and they try to make a difference
in people's lives. They say that their success comes from the farmers and suppliers that produce
what they consume to create their products.
Helping these people thrive helps ensure the long-term sustainability of the premium products we provide. " That is what they say about their goods.
This is all I have learned from today and I hope to learn more
sincerely
Maria M Gomez

Google Day 1

Goals for today:
1: Learn about several colleges
2: See which mayors I might want to get, and what they are about.
3: Learn how long is a musical career.

These goals are useful for me because I really want to have a musical career but I don't really know which colleges are the best for that. I also know that music is a very competitive and hard career so I also want to see other careers like law, anthropology, and history to see which one could be my second option.

 http://www.juilliard.edu/
I would really like to Julliard in New York. I've heard it is one of the best music universities in the world.
http://www.juilliard.edu/degrees-programs/music/voice-opera
Looking at their vocal program they have have:

  • The Bachelor of music and undergraduate diploma, voice doctor of musical arts, voice.
  • Master of Music and Graduate Diploma, voice
  • Artist Diploma in voice
  • Artist Diploma in Opera Studies

To get the undergraduate diploma you need:

  • The online application
  • Audio Recording
  • Transcripts
  • SAT
  • Recommendation letters
  • Live Audition

Proxies

To say the truth this is a new word for me. I hadn't heard before.
I wonder what does it mean and what does it have to do with technology?
Is it something that can harm you or protect you?
How can you use this?
Does it affect your daily life?
Do we already something or is it something we should get or avoid getting?

  • A proxy or  or a proxy server is computer system or application that acts as an intermediary for requests from clients seeking resources from other servers.  Usually when a client connects to a proxy server he/she requests service,  a file, connection, web page, or other resource available from a different server and the proxy server evaluates the request as a way to simplify and control its complexity. Proxies facilitate world wide connection between internet users.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxy_server
  • There are three types of proxies.
  1. The proxy server: is who passes requests and responses unmodified is usually by the gate way or the tunneling proxy.
  2. The forward proxy: That is the Internet-facing proxy that is used to retrieve from a wide range of sources any where in the internet.
  3. The reverse proxy: That is another kind of  Internet-facing proxy used as a front-end to control and protect access to a server on a private network, and commonly performs tasks such as load-balancing, authentication, decryption or caching. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxy_server
  • Proxies are not always good. In some cases there are: Proxy abuse, Proxy Bullying, Proxy war, or Proxy murder. In some of this cases the person in the internet might get affected so it is better to be aware and prevent yourself.

This is how proxies work

Today I realized that when we are online there are other servers that connect us with the people we want to connect with or what we want to do in the internet. I think is funny how I had so many questions about what a proxy was and now I realize is something that is always in our daily lives and we don't realize it. Now every time I go on facebook I will feel like my conversations aren't so private any more. But I am glad I now what proxies are and how they affect us.

Design project day 5

-What was the biggest problem you encountered? How did you solve it?
The biggest problem we encountered was that when we were building we had all the materials but we were missing a ball for our maze.
-When did you get your biggest "AH HA" idea? What was it?
At first we were planning on building a pin ball but then we got the idea of building a maze.
-Who in your group resisted new ideas the most and why?
Truth is we all wanted to the maze. We all had different ideas on how to built it but they all contribute to our final product.
-What doubts did YOU have about the project and how did you overcome those doubts?
I didn't know how we could we built it or how much time would take. But we all put our best effort in our maze and we were able to built on time.
-Who in your group played "devil's advocate" (a person who questions everything, even good ideas) and how did that help the process?
Isabel was the devil's advocate in our group. She was always questioning what we did and when we were building it she was pressuring us to work. This was good because we really concentrated in what we had to do.
-What did you learn about yourself, teamwork, and the design process?
Before I didn't like to work in groups because someone always ended up doing all the work. But in this project I learned that I just had to balance the work. Team work is actually  really fun and helpful when everyone cooperates. Designing a project is not easy. You have to have creativity and imagination, but it is also really fun.

Amazing

Design Day 3

Choose: We followed everything we have said except that it doesn't have have a prize because we would have to be there to give them out. We want to keep the obstacles, the shape, and the concept.
we think that our game doesn't need any thing taken out because that would make it simple and boring.

Implement:
Isabel: will bring silicone
Me: Paint and Brushes
Beatriz: the picture of the maze.

Isabel: will do the maze.
Me: I will paint it
Beatriz: Instructions and tittle.

Cardboard Game

Desing project day 2

We think that Isabel's model is the best one and the more detailed on but we think that we should use some of Beatriz's ideas and my ideas. We are going to use Beatriz's model and my idea of having different obstacles. The obstacles will be holes and mini mountains that will be very hard to pass.

What was good:
Its attractive
Its managed with your hands
there are a good amount of obstacles

We should work on:
Stable walls

Design Proyect day 1

Isabel Botero, Beatriz Acevedo, Maria Mercedes Gomez

Define Face

Our game will be for Primary School

The level will be medium

Something easy to use and understand.

The game is for both genders but mostly boys

The game will be colorful and attractive.

The game should have a price or reward

The game should have something/ someone they can relate to ( ethos)

The game should be a little bit tick.

Research Face.

In this video was very creative.
The problem they had was that the game was way to easy and they game too much information in the video.
The good part was that the claw machine they made was very creative.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwpS5elvvrE

This video was a lot of fun and they claw was really cool.
The bad thing was that the claw doesnt really work .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8twtevzkWk

Ideation face:

Our idea for the game is to built a cardboard maze in which the kid has to take a ball from one side to another.
Things that can go wrong are:
1: the game may break
2: the ball may get lost.

Fails: One of the fails we had we had while we created this project was that although we wanted to edit photos and use Photoshop  neither of us knew how to use it. At first I tried all the tools to see how could I make it work and the more I tried, the less I knew. After many attempts trying, we decided to look it up in the internet and finally we were able to use Photoshop. What we regret about this is not looking it up faster and learning how to use it faster. After learning how to use Photoshop  we discovered new techniques and  new ways to edit photos. We set new goals for our project and found fun ways to experiment with Photoshop.

Tools: In this program there are many different tools that you can use to edit photos. An example for this would be:

This is the original picture
This is the same picture after used the color pencil tool

Tool: Cutout

Tool: sponge

Tool : Plastic wrap

This are just a few tools found in Photoshop . Finally this is the same picture edit with a mixture of tools.
